Ōita Prefecture is a prefecture of Japan on Kyūshū Island. Oita is in the northeast corner of Kyushu prefecture, its coastal areas, farmland, highland, and mountains lend to a mix of different farming and fishing culture. There are many festivals throughout the year to pray for healthy harvests and abundant crops. Ōita Prefecture is famous for its hot springs, particularly those in and around the city of Beppu, known as the ‘hells’, or jigoku.

Bungomori Roundhouse was used to rotate the early steam trains which do not go in both directions. The Roundhouse itself was only a building used for the storage and maintenance of trains.
